I've just installed all the Microsoft patches.

Clicking on the Secunia icon brings the barbers pole (moving) but nothing happens for a minute.

I got here via the internet but as I can't get to the main PSI interface screen, I can't scan.

Could the problem be linked to the Microsoft patches? There was one for IE8 - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP (KB2183461)

Or just a co-incidence?

I'll try again in the morning (23.12 here).

Let it run a while - it is proving slow after the updates

Edit: 0110 hours.

Ran some tests. Please remember I only use IE8.

XP.
1. No barber pole issue.
2. Scan was slow & resulted in a vulnerability noted with XP.
3. Double check with MS to find that KB2079403 had failed to install.
4. After install the scan ran normally.

Windows 7.

Installed PSI 1.9.0.2 and all aspects go like a rocket.

Thanks Maurice.

I had a small panic this morning this morning when on power-up neither the keyboard nor mouse would allow me to log onto the PC, even after a five minutes' wait.

I re-booted & it was OK. I scanned - that was 100%.

Two 'abnormalities' since:
(1) when I tried to open a Word doc just now, it told me that I didn't have Word installed. It opened the second time.
(2) When I closed it with the X, the message bottom left said 'sending to printer'.

Just niggles - Fingers crossed.

PS I see that the IE patch didn't change the status of IE8 as "insecure - no solution" Presumably this means that MS are going nothing about it, ahead of IE9.

All okay here taffy....tho' with Vista. Secunia scanning alright tho' a bit slow.....minor irritation.....the status icons aren't running around in little circles !!

Just retested XP - all running correctly.

Microsoft (to my knowledge) have never said they fixing the minor insecurity on the release of IE9.

As previously advised it is unlikely IE9 will be made available to XP users.
