Hello.
You'll really need to be more specific about the problems, and supply more info regarding your OS etc..
Are you using psi with the Advanced interface, and what version are you using ?
More info is available than when using the Simple interface.....see top right of the psi panel....Simple/Advanced.
When Secunia does find a vulnerability....if you click on the +sign alongside the entry...it will expand to reveal the file path. Click on Tech Details in the Toolbox and it will confirm it.
psi will detect items even if they are still in the Recycle Bin.
If still uncertain how best to proceed...post all that info back to the forum.
Regards

Hi,

Microsoft products usually require a reboot before "kicking in".
Try following this procedure, :

1) Install all available patches from Microsoft Update (click the solution in the PSI)
2) Reboot
3) If any patches were installed, check Microsoft update again.
4) If any patches was installed this time, restart from step 2.
5) Rescan with the PSI

hope this helps.

I am using Secunia Personal Software Inspector. Simple Interface Mode.
After scanning (which has always resulted in 100% result I received a list of threats which listed.

Microsoft. NET Framework 2.x category 4.
Microsoft. NET Framework 3.x category 4.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.x category 4.
Microsoft Outlook 2007 category 4.
Open Office 3.x category 4.
and Sun Java JRE 1.6x/6x

It required me to use 7 solutions which I did and then rescanned. But Microsoft were insistant that all updated had been applied.

The rescanning came back with the same results.

I know how to use my computer quite adequately but am not at all sure of the technical side of it. for instance what is OS? and I couldn't find this x that you referred to. Is it possible to be a bit simpler please.

Hello again.
The OS is your Operating System....Vista, XP, Windows 7 etc..
Generally, when you update programs, older files/versions are left behind which Secunia continues to detect....even if still residing in the Recycle Bin.
When you scan, if vulnerabilities are found, they'll be shown in the Insecure/End of Life tabs in psi. By clicking on the +sign you enlarge the entry and reveal the file path to the vulnerability. That can then be used to locate the offending item.
You may find it useful to read/check thro' the FAQ's here :-
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

And also : How it works here :-
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

If you switch to the Advanced interface; as previously mentioned you'll gain access to more information. If you can then provide details of your OS and the file paths, someone should be able to assist you further.
Hope this is helpful enough. Regards,

** The + sign hasn't been emboldened in my reply....I've checked that the "b's" are in place !!

I am using Windows 7. Home Premium.

I have managed to delete some programs using the advanced mode as suggested.

Unfortunately I am left with the following which I cannot solve.

Microsoft outlook 2007.
Version detected 12.0.6514.5000
Installation Path. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\OUTLOOK.EXE
and
Microsoft Visual C++2008 Redistributable Package
Version detected 9.0.21022.218
Installation Path. C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VC\msdia90.dll

Please help if you can.
