I have 3 computers, each running PSI version 1.5.0.2

Using the Advanced Interface mode, there is a tab for Patched.

For 2 computers it lists Patched Programs
Adobe Flash Player 10.x 10.1.82.76 (AcitveX)
Adobe Flash Player 10.x 10.1.82.76 (NPAPI)

but my third computer does not list either of these programs, but
when I check ADD-ONS for Internet Explorer and Firefox, each
has its corresponding Adobe Flash Player.

I can't figure out why 2 have it and 1 does not.

Hi,

Have you tried rescanning? Or might the program be in another tab? The PSI must be detecting it somewhere, or it wouldn't be showing you the Secure Browsing item.

@Arodin ,

Which OS is running on the problem machine ?? What is on the others ??

Anthony

PS : a minor point , but you have posted to two other treads suggesting how to update Flash ; if you look read carefully you will see that the problem is Flash embedded and not Flash stand alone , so your suggestion is not really relevant and the "mean-spirited" may vote you a "thumbs down" :(( Don't let that put you off , but I'd check the details first , if I were you :))

I have the same problem. Adobe Flash Player is not showing on the list of secure or insecure programs, but is installed and working properly. Running Windows 7, have uninstalled and reinstalled Secunia PSI, rescaned several times, run 2 different virus scanners and am running out of ideas. Anyone have any more ideas.

@dkrakowsky ,

What version is your PSI ?? When did the problem start ?? Did it display pre the latest update ??

Let's wait for @Arodin to reply .

Anthony

PS : a cold restart and full scan can work wonders :) Are either of you using/tried the PSI Test version 1.9.0.2 ??

I am running Secunia version1.5.0.2. Not sure exactly when the problem began, but as is my habit, when I saw there was a new version of Adobe Flash Player, I went into Secunia PSI to update it, as I find it the most convenient way, and it was not listed. It was there last time I updated Adobe Flash Player, which was probably about a month ago. Have already tried cold boot, uninstalling and reinstalling both Secunia and Adobe. I did notice that there does not seem to be a hosts file on this computer, but don't think it could be related.

@dkrakowsky ,

Yet a new puzzle , hey ho !!

Some people (mainly XP users) have had problems with version 1.5.0.2 of the PSI and have had success in going back to version 1.5.0.1 :-

ftp://ftp.secunia.com/PSISetup1501.exe

In your case with W7 , the new test version 1.9.0.2 of the PSI includes an "auto-update" facility , as a long time user of the PSI it may interest you anyway , but the "a-u" does include Flash , so installing it may shake something loose ; who can tell , it's Adobe vs Windows:)) :-

http://secunia.com/PSISetupAUTP.exe

You don't give your location , but "a-u" only loads International programme versions and not "local" language versions .

What do you think .

Anthony

Thanls, I will try both and report back. I'm located in Vancouver, Canada, so location should not be a problem.

@Arodin
Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread, but perhaps we may find a solution for boh of us.

I downloaded and installed version 1.5.0.1 but it made no difference.

I was unables to install 1.9.0.2 as i received the following error:

Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include
incomplete download and damaged media. Contact the
installer's author to obtain a new copy.

More information at:
http://nsis.sf.net/NSIS_Error[/i]

Have gone back to 1.5.0.2

I can live with it, but things that don't work the way they're supposed to drive me crazy.

Thanks for all your help so far.

@dkrakowsy ,

Getting late for me here on CET , just to say that I tried the download link I gave above for 1.9.0.2 and it loaded fine using Chrome and started to run Ok , so I killed it :)))

Originally , I loaded the installer using Firefox - "properties" of both installers are the same .

You may want to try a different browser and or clean up the cache or get rid of temp files - I use CCleaner - and try again .

Off for now , but let us know if you can install 1.9.0.2 while we wait for @Arodin

Anthony

PS: your NSIS link is not working , but it is a standard message (I'm guessing) .

You were right, I was able to install 1.9.0.2 by installing Google Chrome and running your link from there. Also used CCleaner to clean up my cache and cookies. The bad news is that it did not fix the problem for me, bit I appreciate all your efforts. I'll watch this thread in case anyone comes up with any new ideas.
Thanks again for your patience.

Hi,

@dkrakowsky
Have you checked the Insecure/End-of-life tabs for Adobe flash? If so, please submit a software suggestion for Flash.ocx, which is usually located C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash, or C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash for 64-bit systems.

You can submit software suggestions by scrolling to the bottom of the insecure tab, and click "Program Missing? Suggest it here". Please suggest the Flash.ocx file, and add "Attn: Emil" to the comment field.

Hello @Arodin

As Secunia do not work on the PSI at weekends , then we will need to pick this up again on Monday CET .

ON XP SP3 , quite a few (oter) problems have been solved in going back to version 1.5.0.1 , you don't say if you tried it .

Take care

Anthony

Hi,

I still require a software suggestion from both of you. Specifically,
I need you to submit a software suggestion for Flash.ocx, which is usually located C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash, or C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash for 64-bit systems.

You can submit software suggestions by scrolling to the bottom of the insecure tab, and click "Program Missing? Suggest it here". Please suggest the Flash.ocx file, and add "Attn: Emil" to the comment field.

I went to the INSECURE tab and pressed Program missing? Suggest it here.

I put in Flash10i.ocx with the name Adobe Flash Player 10.x

There was no comment line with this. So I could not add Emil to it.

@Emil

I reported Flash10i.ocx as a missing file as you suggested last week, but as Arodin said, there was no provision for a comment to put it to your attention. Like Arodin, I have 3 computers, and Flash is recognised on 2 of them, but not on the other.

it shows
Adobe Flash Player 10.x 10.1.82.76 (ActiveX)
and
Adobe Flash Player 10.x 10.1.82.76 (NPAPI)

Thank you.

Do I have to do anything to close out this thread?

Cause

Problem solved

Hi,

Glad to hear it helped. Actually you can close a thread by clicking the "accept" button next to the post you feel solved your problem (awarding the poster 5 points in doing so), but I'll close this one.
