I just updated opera to 10.61, and PSI still insists opera was 1060 and unsafe.

Detail is, PSI checks for the file C:\Users\<my username>\AppData\Local\Temp\CProgram Files (x86)Opera\OperaUpgrader.exe

IMHO that is an error, it should rather check C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\opera.exe which it correctly finds to be 10.61.

What is the reason behind this?

kind regards, Martin

Hi,

Could you try scanning again? Has this changed the result?

result of full system scan: one error, opera insecure, --> OperaUpgrader.exe

STILL, I consider it incorrect to state once on the patched tab thas opera in the regular path is updated to 1061 and on the insecure page that opera was still on 1060, which is untrue, as only an updater file is still on 1060. I believe the categorization/heading of that message should be changed

Hi,

If there are two entries, one in the Insecure and one it the Patched tabs, the PSI is either picking up a backup file or other installation. There are no rules in our system which use OperaUpgrader.exe, only the proper Opera.exe.

Please post here the Installation Path of the insecure entry. You can obtain this by clicking "+" next to the entry and pasting the contents of the "Installation Path" field here.

It would also help if you filed a software suggestion for the file the PSI is incorrectly detecting. You can do this by scrolling to the bottom of any PSI page and select "Program Missing? Suggest it here". We need the file OperaUpdater.exe from you.

Martin ,

If you expect courteous help , then acronyms like RTFM are not acceptable on this Forum :((

So reformat mouth and brain or GTFOOH :))

Take care

Anthony

Started another complete scan, result: nothing insecure anymore, so I guess, this temp file will simply be ignored?

Yes, that's correct. The PSI only points out insecurities you can fix, and if you have the latest version of Opera, you should be secure.

I believe it's the hostile tone that's causing you problems.

hope this helps.
