When PSI detected that I had an Office 2003 element...it said I needed to download security updates for it. I did...but I can't get them installed. Since I really don't need these updates, I'd like to remove them from my computer...so I don't keep getting asked to install them.

How would I do this?

By not installing the updates it will leave U vulnerable. Is that what U want or do U wish to completely remove ALL traces of Office 2003?

Yes, I don't use Office 2003...just one element. I'd just as soon remove those...unless you can tell me how I can get the link to work. The trouble is that each time I click on the link...it says that IE needs to be my default browser. IT IS. It is for all users including the administrator. I've even checked the H_Key components in the registry. Nothing seems to work. Since the links work with other updates....I'm content to just delete the downloads for the Office 2003.

I assume it is the standalone free viewer that requires updating?

I had MS Project 2010 installed. I also installed MS Project 2003 and 2007 because I teach these classes. I have Windows Office 2010 running on a 64-bit laptop with Window 7 as the operating sys. When I installed Project 2003 that's when I started getting links to update Office 2003...of which only MS Project is installed. I have Service Pack 3 already installed for MS Project 2003 and that is all I really need...but I keep getting Security updates...but can't seem to install because the links say I need IE as my default browser. I'm not getting any Windows update notices.

Because I can't seem to get these installed and I don't use Office 2003...I thought that I'd just delete them so PSI doesn't keep telling me I need to install these.

Thank you so much for trying to understand my situation.

There are some security updates after SP3 that you should check you have installed.

KB948962:

Again,
Thank you very much. By the way...I know where to go to check SPs, but where do I check if the security update was already applied.

In Control Panel, Programs and Features, select View installed updates in the Task list on the left.

If you have XP select it in Add/Remove Programs
