Does anyone have any idea why my Secunia PSI Scans continually tell me that my Internet Explorer 8 Browser is insecure? I even have the Service Pack 3 installed. |

Hello Figtree , If you are referring to the info in "secure browsing" tab of the PSI that is because IE is (mildly) insecure , M$ know about it and have no known intention of doing anything about it until IE9 is released - no help even then , if you use XP , you are not likely to get it . If IE is showing in the "insecure" tab , then you are missing a patch and need to go to M$updates and download the patch . Does that help ?? Anthony -- It always seems impossible until its done. Thank you Anthony. Yes, this is stated under "insecure browsing". I continuouly use Microsoft updates and the malicious tool removal. I do my best to try and keep my computer secure. My anti-virus is McAfee. Should I really be concerned about this? When I run the scan from the Secunia website page, the scan tells me that my programs are secure. That's why I am so confused. I just noticed today on the Cnet website that Microsoft will be initiating the IE9 next month. Figtree |

Anthony, No, I was wrong about the area that the scan is showing. It's showing under "secure browsing". |

Hi Figtree , The "secure browsing" warning is to advise you that IE is not 100% secure ; but then again nothing is , except death and taxes . If you see IE in the "patched" tab then you are as up to date as you can be . The browser you use is your personal choice ; as long as you use secure/safe browsing practices then you'll be fine . You mention Service Pack 3 , so if it applies to XP as your OS you will probably not be able to run IE9 ( so rumour has it ) . I find Firefox and Chrome equally suit my needs . Ask if anything is still worrying you . Anthony Windows auto updates or visiting te M$/Windowsupdates website will tell you when/if you need patches . PSI tells you if a patch has not been applied correctly . -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |

Anthony, Thank you so much for your help and advice. I believe my IE8 is as patched as it's going to get. I continually check for Microsoft/Windows updates, even before my automatic updates alert me. Thanks again. Figtree |
