After updating to latest secure version (11.5.8.612) C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11 shows SwHelper_1157609.exe (old insecure version) & SwHelper_1158612.exe (new secure version).

Has anyone else notice this? Is it safe to assume that SwHelper_1157609.exe was just "missed" by the Adobe updater and can be safely deleted? Thank you in advance for your anticipated informative reply, sorry if I'm using the wrong "terminology"--I'm just a NOOB...LOL!

Hi Jersey Devil.

I've just this minute installed the latest version of Shockwave from Filehippo ***.

I've checked my Adobe folder and I still have the SWHelper_11.5.7.609 file.

But Secunia shows a 100% scan. Did you install yours via Adobe's site?

Worth trying again via File Hippo (you don't get problems with them as you do with Adobe, bloatware etc.)?

U can just delete the obsolete file. Installing a new version does not always remove all the files.

The traditional way to update Shockwave is:

1. Uninstall Shockwave for your OS from the clearly marked link here:
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates...

2. Reinstall Shockwave from here:
http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/

3. If you wish to test your new Shockwave Player the link is here:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

If all your problems are now resolved could U please lock (Accept) the thread. This will prevent us both from receiving update emails from "tag on" posts.

Thanks for the replies. I used Secunia's Download Solution to install updates and PSI shows 100% secure, no trace of v11.5.7.609.

Deleting leftover file Sw_1157609.

Locking thread, thank you!
