1. Auto update browsers should not change default browser

I recently used the auto update feature for Opera. The Opera installer by default sets itself as the default browser but their is an option to prevent this during attended install.

So when Secunia runs the auto update, I either want it to to do an attended install so during each update so I can configure this options or Secunia should be clever enough to detect current default browser and configure the installer script to maintain that choice when updating software.

2. Generally about programs

In fact many software are annoying in that updating them puts their icon back on the desktop even though I have deleted it e.g. updating Itunes, Quicktime or Adobe reader to name but a few. Whilst I don't think Secunia can do anything to stop that, it relates to the first point.

Hi amhoyle;

I was told by a Secunia Official that the auto update feature would only download junkware free updates that would not change your settings. However, remember please, this is a TP (Technology Preview) version, not the final release. That in itself won't change the download, but Secunia is still working with manufactures / vendors to make this happen.

Secunia may pick up this thread and look into it. If not, I would uncheck the update box for your browser for now. The new version will be out any time. If problem with the download exists then, I would contact support.

Regards;

Fred
