I have a problem with PSI in my windows 7 using IE8. When I open PSI when it shows the graphs of with the green and yellow bars, nothing shows. It says to install Flash Player for Internet Explorer. I have installed and uninstalled dozens of time and the "Install Flash Player for Internet Explorer never goes away. No graphs ever show up either. Any suggestions. Thank you.

Things to consider:

- have you re-booted after Flash installation?

- have you closed all programs (including PSI - right click tray icon, then exit) that use flash, prior to download/installation?

- did you use IE for Flash ActiveX (required for PSI graphics) download/installation?

- does latest Flash 10.1.82.76 (ActiveX) show under PSI Patched tab (Advanced mode)?

- finally, try Filehippo download site using IE (if not already used):

http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/

remembering the above points.

TiMow

EDIT: The above should be non-OS specific - I use XP. If it's a W7 specific problem, then the advice needs to come from someone familiar with that.

@ dndbohn

Consider the advice of TiMow then visit the following site to remove Flash:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

In PSI (Advanced) you should have two entries for Flash:

C:\windows\system32\macromedia\flash\flash10i.ocx
C:\windows\syswow64\macromedia\flash\flash10i.ocx

If you have win7-32bit, the first one apply

If you have win7-64bit, the two must be in their directories.

Good luck.

"..... I've been here, and I've been there, and I've been in-between ....."

Lack of time/knowledge, plus other factors, have restricted contribution - regular "staff" seem to have ably coped.

Glad to see you back on the forum anyrate !
Way back in the annals of my memory, I seem to remember Emil stating that Secunia had an expectance of members participating in chit chat in the course of thier "duties". It seems we've been thumbed for doing just such... I think someone is being ill mannered !!

I think that comes under the sub-heading of "..... plus other factors ....", that I mentioned above.

@dndbohn;

Did the advise of TiMow or gjjean solve the problem?

We did not intend to take over your thread. It's just we haven't heard from TiMow for awhile.

@dndbohn

Just to inform:- there is another thread running at the moment exhibiting the same symptoms as you've described, although on Vista and not W7.

http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/528...

It may be worthwhile monitoring this also, to see if a resolution is reached which may be helpful to you. The relevance of fully closing the PSI program from the tray icon (clicking the "X" on the window only closes the window and doesn't exit the program) may be of significance.

It might be worth starting afresh - download flash uninstall from the link provided by John (@gjjean), above; close all browsers, PSI and anything else that may use flash; run the uninstall; open IE and use the filehippo download link (also above) to re-install Flash (ActiveX).

If you use other browsers (Ff, Chrome, etc.), you will also need to open that and download Flash (NPAPI) using this link:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_fire...

Re-boot, re-open PSI (Start>All Programs) and re-scan.

To all others:

Thanks for your greetings - nice to be remembered.
Summer weather, long evenings, holidays/vacations, etc - better outside than inside.
Still had time to monitor the forum (to keep abreast of current issues), although many of the problems, I had/have no experience/knowledge of - those that I may have been able to comment on, were ably dealt with anyway. Fortunate enough not to be effected by any of the XP Pro/PSI (I'm still running 1.5.0.2)/.Net framework/MSXML problems experienced by some.

Two things were also niggling at me - the (over-) importance being placed by some on the relevance scoring (including illogical and inappropriate marking) , and then, the fact that the scores of all of you (especially mogs) were fast approaching that of my own!

Anyway, I'm a fistful of thumbs in credit from this thread - thanks guys.

Regards

TiMow
