In the Configuration/Settings Section, I have repeatedly set the : _"Start the Secunia PSI on boot" - to ON ALSO _"Enable program monitoring" is set to ON, But when I reboot, PSI2 Beta does NOT load. I have to do it manually, and when I check the settings, they are both UNCHECKED. Please Advise. Thanks. (System: WinXP Pro/SP3; Intel Core2-Quad; ASUS Motherboard with latest BIOS) |

I have already checked my CCleaner settings. NOT the problem. Your other suggestion (at the FAQ link), does not apply. The Beta runs perfectly, the problem is that I have to Manually load it every time I boot or Re-Boot, as the Configuration Setting - to have it load automatically on Boot, does NOT stay checked and consequently I must load it manually. I appreciate your help, thanks. |

I'm almost sure I've seen a same/similar problem in the psi2.0 Beta posts over the last couple of days....but I can't seem to find it !! When you say the FAQ's don't apply...you mean to your particular problem ? They do apply to psi2.0 Beta ( not wishing to cause any confusion ). -- |

What you are looking for are the posts by @ottchris-primary and his alter ego @ott-group who pop up all throughout the thread and lower down mentions the non-stick of settings :- http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/532... hope that helps . Mogs, YES, I mean to my Particular problem. NOT FAQ's as they apply to psi2.0 Beta The FAQ's are always my first place to look and Secunia does this well. Still have the problem, maybe the next Beta will correct it. Again, thinks for your desire to help. piscote49 -- GringoViejo49 |

Anthony, Thanks for the lead. I did check out all the "ott" postings that I found, but they do not answer the problem. As I see it I have 3 options: 1)Un-install the Beta Completely,; Clean my registry completely of all PSI references and then try a new install. 2)Wait for someone to post solution on that works OR 3) Keep Loading it manually, at least until the Next Beta or Final release comes out. Again, thanks to ALL, good group of people on this Forum! -- GringoViejo49 |

Hi GringoV , It's a Beta so not everything will work as hoped , required , desired nor demanded . The idiosyncrasies of your system are what they are ; I am not a fan of Registry "cleaner" programmes , if you know what you are doing in certain instances and why , all to the good . Your options you clearly defined , do what you understand best and makes you happy - that way no regrets , no what might have been . Take care Anthony -- It always seems impossible until its done. | Hi, I am afraid I have not been able to reproduce this issue. Could I ask you to run the PSI in debug mode, uncheck the setting again, reload the interface, and send us the debug log? To obtain a debug log from the PSI, first close the PSI by right-clicking the tray icon and selecting exit. Then, click you start menu, and type "cmd", either in the "run" box (If on XP), or directly in the search bar (Vista & Win7). Now type, preserving the quotes: cd "C:\Program Files\Secunia\PSI" psi.exe --verbose --debug secunia.txt The PSI should now run. Please reproduce the steps that cause the issue, then right-click the tray icon and select "Reload Interface". If the problem is still reproduceable at this point, please send the newly created debug file located at C:\Program Files\Secunia\PSI\secunia.txt to us at support@secunia.com Thank you for your feedback, and for your help in resolving this issue. |

| Hi, After reviewing your error log, we have corrected some minor issues. If you restart the PSI 2.0 Beta, and run it again, is the problem resolved? |

No Luck. Still the same: From the Settings tab (see below), ONLY the last option (marked "C") will stay checked as selected. Options "A" and "B" become unchecked after I reboot. I would like them to REMAIN selected. Item "A" is not really a problem as I manually placed it in my "Start Up" Program Folder, so it starts minimized automatically, even though option "A" does not remain checked as selected. But, I would really like to have "(B) Enable program monitoring" remain selected on reboot, and not have to manually select it each time I reboot or turn on my computer. (A) Start the Secunia PSI on boot When enabled, the Secunia PSI will automatically notify you when programs change their security state, potentially requiring your attention. retrieving settings (B) Enable program monitoring When enabled, the Secunia PSI will continuously monitor new program installations and removals. It will only notify you about these changes if the above setting ("Start the Secunia PSI on boot") is enabled. retrieving settings (C) Enable automatic program updates When enabled, the Secunia PSI will continuously monitor if insecure programs that can be auto-updated are detected on your PC and automatically download and install the suggested security patches on your PC. I hope that I have explained this clearly, thanks for following up. -- GringoViejo49 |

I verifies what you asked: "Do all your settings in Internet Explorer corrospond to those discussed in this item of our FAQ? http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal..." Yes, all is as indicated (but I primarily use Firefox.). All of the functions of the PSI Beta work fine, I just have had to place it in the start program folder to load on boot, instead of the Settings option working as it should and the other option: "Enable program monitoring When enabled, the Secunia PSI will continuously monitor new program installations and removals. It will only notify you about these changes if the above setting ("Start the Secunia PSI on boot") is enabled. retrieving settings" Does NOT remain checked and as far as I can tell, it is not supposed to do what it says UNLESS it is Selected (Checked). These are the only anomalies that I have detected with the BETA, other wise it works fine and, I believe the scans are faster than the previous version. Maybe the next BETA will correct this problem. Thanks for your continued assistance, but as yet we have not figured out the answer. Regards. -- GringoViejo49 |

| Hi, Could you please provide us with another debug log? Please simply follow the instructions in my above post on debug logs, and email us the file at support@secunia.com Again, please not that it is important to not post part of the debug here, as it contains sensitive information specific to you. Thank you for helping us resolve this issue. |

same trouble; otherwise great beta. Settings to stick in startup and monitor installs won't stick. I also use firefox primarily, and checked those settings in IE...no joy. Thanks. |

I have the same problem. Also the program is not listed (although installed). Created a shortcut, which means I have to manually activate PSI each time I reboot. PSI Beta 2.0 also crashes my computer when not in use and restarts itself. XP Home SP3 Intel Pentium(R) 1800 GHz, 1808MHz |
