Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Service Pack 1 BETA.

I have tried 1.5.0.2, 1.9.0.2, and 1.9.0.3007.

With 1.5.0.2 and 1.9.0.2 it will start the "Please wait while network connectivity is verified", but will not go any further.

The 1.9.0.3007 version has a blank page with "Secunia PSI (Not Responding)" in the title bar. After several minutes, a pop-up opens that says "Unable to retrieve PSI user ID from Secunia. Please verify that you are able to connect to https://psi.secunia.com/ and then restart PSI. Note: Proxy support for PSI is currently unavailable, but is planned for a future release. If your system requires access to the internet through a proxy you will not be able to use the application at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience."

I have checked, and PSI makes a connection to https://psi.secunia.com (91.198.117.121 or 91.198.117.135), with versions 1.5.0.2 and 1.9.0.2 but the GUI never completes loading. With version 1.9.0.3007 it appears no connection is made at all.

Ideas or suggestions?

Hello.
Are you sure all your settings are configured as per the FAQ's here :-
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal... FAQ's
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...
HOW IT WORKS
Tho' IE needs not be your default browser whilst installing, I've often found that it helps.....reverting to the browser of choice afterwards.
Hope this helps..........regards,

Hi,

Would you happen to be the same user writing us from an account that ends in "bus.rr.com"?

If not, could I ask you to provide us with a debug log? Please note that debug logs contain confidential information specific to you, and so should not be posted here.

You can obtain such a log by typing "cmd"
either in the Start > Run box (for XP), or directly in the Star menu
search bar (For Win7 & Vista). Then, enter these commands exactly:
cd %ProgramFiles%\Secunia\PSI
psi.exe --verbose --debug secunialog.txt

Now let the PSI run for at least a minute. Then close it by
right-clicking the tray icon and selecting "Exit".
A new file will have been created at %ProgramFiles%\Secunia\PSI
\secunialog.txt
If you can email us this file at support@secunia.com finding the cause of this
issue will be much simpler.

hope this helps.

Yes, that is I.

I was hoping someone in the forum had similar experiences, and could offer a solution.

I just received your email.

I will reply there, but I am open to suggestions from users here as well.

Thank you.

I believe I have discovered the cause of the problem; Kaspersky Internet Security.

When I restore my PC to before KIS was installed, PSI works perfectly.

Now, the real battle begins; getting Kapersky to fix it!

Does Kaspersky provide your firewall ? If so , perhaps it's blocking Secunia ? It should be a relatively easy matter to allow ?

PS I noticed on previous occasions, that my security sometimes took some time to adjust to the "new occupant ".

I have changed every possible setting, basically telling KIS to completely ignore PSI, but to no avail.

Last edited on 25th Sep, 2010 02:26 I was able to get PSI 1.9.0.2 to work by formatting and reinstalling the OS and installing PSI before KIS 2011.

However, I recently tried to install the 1.9.0.3007 BETA and it will not connect to Secunia.

Apparently, Kaspersky does want to cooperate with Secunia. I find that any installation of PSI after KIS 2011 has been installed first causes PSI to fail to connect to Secunia, thereby rendering PSI effectively useless. I tried disabling KIS, stopping it from running at startup, and even completely uninstalling it, but to no avail.

I am going to address this issue to Kaspersky as soon as they resolve the issue I am having with Everest and KIS, although it has been about six weeks and no resolution yet.

If I ever manage to get any kind of reasonable solution from Kaspersky (not holding my breath there) I will post the results here.
