Hello.

Secunia tells me that Adobe Flash Player 10 is insecure. I have (or think I have) version 10.1.82.76 installed plus Adobe Flash Player Plugin, though I always wonder why no size is shown in the control panel for these two.

I have pressed the download solution and followed the installation instructions twice, but Adobe Flash Player is STILL insecure.

I am installing and uninstalling and can't figure out how to get his right. Frankly I am really tired of fooling around with Adobe Flash Player, but I seem to need it.

I also need flash player 7, but I am afraid to install from an unidentified source.

I just installed the new PSI 2.0 Beta and it is asking if I am missing a program. I don't know. How would know if I am missing a program?

Can someone help me with these problems?

I also have another thread regarding Outlook Express but have not had time to read the Microsoft page and hope to get to that soon.

Thank you very much.

jitterbug

Hi,

Do you have an instance of Flash Player in both the Insecure and Patched tabs? If so, you have encountered a typical complication with Adobe Updates, namely that installing the new version doesn't remove the older version.

To successfully update Flash, try following Adobe's own instructions for removing Flash, found here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Then, try re-applying the solution, or simply installing the newest version of Flash.

hope this helps.

Hello.

Thank you very much for your suggestions, but things do not seem to work.

I have managed to uninstall Adobe Flash Player and to install the Adobe Download Manager, but that's all. The pages keep telling me that I need to install plugins, but these installations have failed repeatedly this morning. It is a round-robin....I keep coming back to the same page.

Where do I go to download Adobe Flash Player? I am going to try the internet.

Thanks.

jitterbug.

Official Adobe website: www.adobe.com

You need to do it twice. Once from IE and once from another browser (e.g. Firefox). Be careful to uncheck the box offering extra programs.

A quicker way is to download from here:
IE - http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_ie/
Non-IE - http://www.filehippo.com/download_flashplayer_fire...

Hello.

I did a search on my computer, wondering what is holding up the installation of Adobe flash player and plug-ins. The only thing I found was a path to My Documents and a folder containing a lot of Adobe Acrobat documents that are important to me. How do I sort this out?

Thank you.

Sincerely, jitterbug

Here is a respected third party site for flash (and many other) downloads:

http://www.filehippo.com/latest/

Use Firefox or Chrome (or other) to download the first (non IE) and IE for the second (IE).

Once downloaded, but before running each close all programs (PSI 1.5.0.2 included - right click tray icon and exit).

The following, recently resolved thread may be of interest - scroll down to posts by myself for further info./details.

Hello.

Okay, ddmarshall sent me to the filehippo page also, but I do see how to download anything from that page. It does not tell me how to download anything.

Also, on that filehippo page, there is a notice at the top of the page that says: No Filter. Is that a warning of some sort?

Thanks. jitterbug

Okay, I finally clicked on the large download button which I thought was a Google ad or something, and I think I have downloaded both IE and non-IE versions of Flash Player, the latest, I hope.

I am hoping that that does it.....hope springs eternal, but we'll see. I think I need plugins.

One other thing: Does anyone know why Flash Player 10 Activex shows up in the control panel and not the other, and why is there no size listed for the program?

Thank you all very much for your help and patience.

Glad to hear.

Plug-ins should be installed at the same time as the flash update.

For Firefox: click tools > Add-ons > Plug ins icon (top) > then scroll to check latest version number shows against Shockwave Flash. If not click (in the Add-ons window) Find Updates.
