Hi,

Did you, by chance, use the Auto-update functionality? If so, please post back, and we will investigate the issue - we strive to only offer auto-updates that don't bundle "crapware" and other things the user did not request.

Or, did you use the manual installer? If there was no option to not install the add-on, then I suggest you take up your case with the Foxit team - Secunia is not involved in creating patches, we only refer to the Vendor's own provided solutions.

hope this helps.

When PSI flags an insecurity with Foxit (and some other 3rd party programs), I always open said program, and click "Check for Updates", from Help menu, to update - this (normally) provides a quick and easy update to an already installed program.

I thought such unwanted nasties, as you report above, were only included with the initial installation (and not subsequent updates - certainly not when updated from within the program).

When available, I would always choose Custom install, and look out for such inclusions - unfortunately Foxit is known to offer piggy-back rides to other stuff (previously/currently(?) Ask toolbar), that would normally not be considered (or needed) by most.

If you want rid of the crapware and require further assistance locating and removing it, then post back with your OS, PSI version no. and which browsers are effected.

TiMow

EDIT: Just seen your reply(s) under Secunia Vulnerability advisory for Foxit, stating that you unchecked all the rubbish - but it still got through. By updating from within the program eliminates this (for me, anyway).

Hi,

if it is not the Secunia Auto-Update functionality causing the issue, there is nothing we can do.
We use certain parameters for our installers, however, and one of them disables all the bundled programs.

If you try running the installer with these parameters, you should be able to install without the bloatware:
/disallow /ebay /foxitbar /fp

hope this helps.
