I have just found that Adobe Reader will not automatically update itself (when auto update is enabled). I had to go to the adobe.com website and choose Reader download. What then happened is that the Adobe Download Manager uninstalled the 9.x version (as it detected this as an old version!) and then correctly installed the 9.4.0 version for Windows 7. My system score had been 99% for a week and now (in green text) is 100% again.
So because the Adobe Download Manager has to be used to update Reader software it cannot be done automatically. The Adobe Download Manager has to be started to download + install Adobe Reader. But of course you can only start the Adobe Download Manager if you Download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader (which has to be done manually)!!.

Hello.
Could this be the reason ? Extract from official post :-

"Another issue with Adobe Reader that you should be aware of, is that the patching is incremental. This means that, to get from version 9.0 to 9.3.4 (which is the latest secure version), first you need to install the 9.3 patch, then the 9.3.2 patch, then 9.3.3, then 9.3.4. Please note that these patches are prepared by the vendor, and we have no control over how they function."

Hope it helps.......regards,

The patching issue had not been apparent to me, and it could be why I had to download and install the latest version of Reader from the Adobe website.
My version was 9.x and I needed to get to 9.4, so there may have been a number of updates to install first.
So downloading and installing the latest version would have meant that my version was uninstalled properly first, before the actual installation of the latest version thus obviating the need to patch/patch/patch my version to the latest version!!.

The next auto-update should go like a dream.
