I am trying to delete IE 8 as it shows as a threat. After deleting IE 8 , IE 6 shows up as a CAD 5 threat. I tried to delete it,but it will not delete????
I get a pop up window that said

"can not delete internet explorer: it is being used by another person or program. close any program that might be using this file and try again"

I do not know of any program that might be using IE 6.

I can't find "IE" at all in the add remove programs.

How can I delete IE 6 from my computer?

U cannot delete IE - it will break Windows. It is part of the OS & certain functions are reliant on a copy being installed.

When U uninstalled IE 8 it should have rolled back to IE7.

Did U upgrade from IE6 to IE8?

You can only uninstall Internet Explorer in Windows 7.
Reinstall Internet Explorer 8. It is safer than Internet Explorer 6. In fact, the vulnerability only affects Internet Explorer 8 if it is not running in the default configuration or your computer does not support DEP. You can also use the Fixit in this article: for added protection.

There is no problem if you use another browser. You have to actually browse to a specially crafted website with Internet Explorer to be compromised.

This answer is provided “as-is.” You bear the risk of using it.

I took a freeware live LINUX dvd, booted my computer from LINUX. I renamed the IE files wich caused the CAD 5 threat from within LINUX. So the path: C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\IEXPLORE.EXE became : C:\PROGRAM FILES\XXINTERNET EXPLORER\XXIEXPLORE.EXE. By renaming the vulnerability I hide it for hackers, so they can't use it because they can't find it. If I need IE, I restore IE with its true name, and then I can use it again. I did check if the software I use works well with a hidden IE, and it does.
