Immediately before uninstalling PSI(RC4) and installing 1.0, PSI showed no insecure programs. After the install scan, it showed two, and it's the same two as last weekend. I have Adobe Pro 8.1.3 and it says it's up to date, but PSI shows 8.1.2.215; VLC Media Player's current 0.9.6 shows again in PSI as 0.8.6h. Last weekend, just to be sure, I reinstalled both, plus the new version of Adobe Air, and the Insecures eventually disappeared. This is getting more than annoying.

My VideoLAN VLC player claims
in properties - details it is version 0.9.6.99

When launched, in Help - about it claims it is 0.9.6 version

but PSI 1.0.0.1 still claims it is insecure version 0.9.4,
even if I updated it from 0.9.4 to 0.9.6

I wonder, from where PSI gets improper 0.9.4 version.
Also it should be easy to get the proper one.

Have you checked the paths of the files that the Secunia PSI detects..? It could be that it is finding old copies of the software on your harddrives - or that third party programs are distributing an old insecure version of VLC player.

PSI scans your disk only one time per week per default.

If you have many "insecure" software you can launch a scan yourself on the "Scan" Tab.

Or you can click the "Re-scan" button on the line of each software you think is not detected correctly by PSI.

These facts are well known, but do not apply in my case.

this other thread speaks of the same problem I think:
http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/636...

"debeul" told this in the middle of the thread:
(unknown source)
We are aware of VLC Media Player version 0.8.6i being detected as the
insecure version 0.8.6h. The reason for this is that the developers
behind VLC Media Player have forgot to update their programs file
version information. The PSI looks at this information when determining
the version of a program.

I am aware about that. I was reporting it to Secunia before too.
I 0.8.x case the version mentioned in exe
was right in one place, but bad in the other place.
so PSI could took the bad one.

Now right are both places ( see posts above ).

Since VLC went from insecure to secure twice with PSI, once when 0.9.6 first came out, then again last weekend, and went the opposite direction twice, last weekend and going from PSI-RC to 1.0, my first guess would be it's PSI. However, I'm not seeing the code, so don't really know.

I, likewise, installed the latest version of Secunia PSI version 1.0....
and, I know that I have re-installed several programs just to "test" the reports..It still shows up as all patch installed but also I get the critical listing..WHAT THE F**K? Either it's good or not..Also, if you're saying it's got a problem..SHOW the fix or ..
Listen, I am just about to uninstall you and...forget you exist~

Look..I have reread your statements of "results"..It's now apparent that what looks to be a warning of a threat is in fact, nothing..
You have this "warning flag" shown on some programs and nothing on others. When in fact, you should have nothing shown on any programs listed, if everything is okay..That's all..~!
