Yesterday, the Secunia PSI Beta 2.0, Version 1.9.0.5004, started to Auto Update my version of Adobe Reader to the new Version 9.4.1. It got part way through the update and then just stopped. After waiting for over 2 hours, I went and manually downloaded the update from Adobe and installed it. When I re-scanned the individual Adobe Reader file, Secunia didn't recognize the new version. However, after I did a full scan, Secunia recognized the new Version 9.4.1. This same problem occurred on ALL 3 OF MY COMPUTERS. One is a Dell Dimension 8200 desktop. One is a Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. One is a Dell Precision M90 laptop. All 3 are running WinXP Pro SP3 and have Secunia PSI Beta 2.0, Version 1.9.0.5004 installed. Anyone else have this problem? Yes I had the same problem auto updating Acrobat Reader. I had to do a manual update of Adobe Reader too. |

Had the same effect, but I didn't manually do the update. Instead today I updated PSI to BETA 1.9.0.5004. After the initial scan the Scan Results IMMEDIATELY show Adobe Reader as the new ("patched") v9.4.1.222 (this is correct - I checked Adobe Reader). But this "Adobe Reader update" was so "fast" that I am unsure whether the Adobe update really failed before or PSI just stated the wrong version in the former BETA. Unfortunately I missed to check the version of my Adobe Reader BEFORE I updated PSI, but seems to be similar to Tunaman's description. Just to confuse/complicate matters, there is now Adobe Reader 10 or Reader X (Roman numeral?) If 9.4.1 is secure, then PSI wont alert beyond this version. http://www.filehippo.com/download_adobe_reader/tec... or http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/features.html or http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Adobe-Reader... (avoid the big red download buttons, on this one); with a bit of background, found here: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Critical-Updates-Av... Admittedly it's not your problem , but it seems to cover many languages here ;- http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/tech-specs.ht... The OP is from the US , perhaps he/she might be interested in X . Take care Anthony -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |
