Secunia says my version is insecure. I do not have it my add/remove program. If I try to delete the folder, it says it is being used by another application and I cannot delete it. Any suggestions? |

When a program does not show up in Add/Remove Programs, and it does not seem possible to uninstall it, you can contact the vendor of the program for information on how to uninstall their product. |

Windows Netmeeting is a superfluous feature packaged with microsoft windows that cannot be removed. As far as it being unsafe... You can try to go to the microsoft update website to update it. |

The PSI interface shows a "Solution from Secunia advisory (English) (SA11064)" which includes links to various Microsoft patches. I tried the one appropriate to my version of Windows (XP), but when I tried to install it I got the message "Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the system is newer than the update you are applying. There is no need to install this update". I have XP SP3 installed, so presumably Microsoft consider that the vulnerability in NetMeeting is addressed in SP3. If that's true, that implies that this threat detection by the PSI is a false positive. Even if it's not true, perhaps the Secunia Advisory should be updated to list this patch only for earlier versions of XP. Then the question would be - is there another patch which should be applied to XP SP3? Richard |

Netmeeting can be removed from XP. Details are here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938223 There is also an email help link at the bottom of the hyperlink page to Microsoft. Reinstallation details are here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/netmeet.htm What is the path to the insecurity found by Secunia. The correct path of Netmeeting is C:\Program Files\Netmeeting\conf.exe (Version 3.1) Is your path different to this? -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |

Thank you, that was just the information I needed. I checked the path of NetMeeting and found it was indeed C:\Program Files\Netmeeting\conf.exe, which made me realise my mistake: that path was in another partition in which I have Windows 98 installed, so the PSI was not after all reporting a vulnerability in Windows XP SP3. The Microsoft article says it is applicable to XP and to NetMeeting 1.0, but in fact the fix recommended there has now successfully removed NetMeeting 3 from Windows 98 as well, clearing up the vulnerability report from the PSI.
