This installation of Microsoft Windows XP Professional is insecure and potentially exposes your system to security threats!

Interesting! After a normal scan.

What's up? :0)

After running "Microsoft Update" and applying relevant patches, I now get this from the PSI after running another full scan:

Here's a copy of the official reply concerning MS updates :_

When updating Microsoft Applications, it is a good idea to keep in mind that some Microsoft Updates do not "kick in" until after a reboot. Therefore, it is recommended to try following this procedure when installing Microsoft Updates:

1) Check Microsoft Update: install all security-related patches
2) Reboot
3) Repeat step 1: repeat step 2 if anything was installed at this step
4) Run a full rescan with the PSI

Hope the foregoing is of some help....regards,

Hi mogs:

Yes, those steps were already completed.
However, the problem still exists.

TIA,

Very interesting...

Decided to run the PSI scan one last time.

Problems resolved and I don't understand why.

Suggestion for Secunia:

Please do not state that an Operating System is Insecure, but name the component that is questionable.

Will monitor and close this case if all OK within 24 hours.
