Not sure what to do? I even checked with Microsoft Update directly (I get automatic updates) and there was no other action I could take. I've scanned twice. Help, please. Thanks.

PS -- Under "installation path" it said "N/A"

Despite the obvious difference in operating systems, a similar problem has also occurred with another user using Vista.

You may want to review my reply in that thread (unfortunately in general, non-specific terms only):

This seems to happen from time to time with Windows OS, and is not easily fixable - if a problem even exists in the first place.

EDIT: on a quick inspection, there appears to be no current Secunia Advisory in effect for XP. You can choose to scroll through them yourself to check.

Thanks so much. I used the program you recommended in the Vista thread. I kept going back to Windows Update and it seems it was an Office 2007 update (I don't even have Office 2007!) but somehow after a few tries, I was able to download all updates. I also had to go in and delete a Power Point 2003 viewer for some reason. So, thanks again. Very helpful.

It appears that you have everything sorted.

Even without the paid version of M$ Office, there is a folder under Program Files, containing sub-folders for Office 12 (Office 2007) and PowerPoint Viewer.

PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (stand alone, without full M$ Office) is now End-of-Life, and should have upgraded to PPV 2007; and as you found out PPV 2003 needed to be deleted.

You've been fortunate to solve your original problem and PPV 2003, with minimal hassle - unfortunately not always the same for some other users.
