For my version of project, PSI tells me to download the following patch

http://download.microsoft.com/download/c/a/8/ca881...

However when i apply it, the system returns stating "unexpected" version. Any thoughts?

Do you have the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000? You may need it for the installation to succeed.

You can get it here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/276367

You have probably figured this out by now. Had the same problem as I had not used Project 2000 since loading it on the current computer. Turned out, I never installed SR 1 on the reload as well as at least four other patches and/or security updates. Turns out after checking Office Updates for Project 2000, there are other security updates that I appear not to have uploaded. Those may or may not relate to my current problem described next.

Simply updating to SR1 fixed the version message you describe. Still have a problem though. Add/Remove programs says that KB949043 is loaded and applied. However Secunia says that Project 2000 is still not secure, and pressing the download solution button, brings up KB949043.

My MS Project2000 shows it's Version "9.0.2001.0219 SR-1", yet Secunia keeps seeing Version "9.0.0.8968" and keeps telling me to download KB949043. Every time I do what Secunia says, Project responds that the KB "has already been applied or is included in an update that has already been applied."
