Hello again.
I have a laptop SONY VAIO running Windows 7x64 Home Premium.(Sony Vaio VPC-F11Z1E/BI with all the updates that automatically gives me Sony Vaio)
I did all the updates but if I change the Secunia from simple to advanced as I have all my other computers it gives me this vulnerability:
Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.x 4.20.9839.0
The whole path is :
C:\Program Files (x86)\SONY\PMB\TapeImporter\msxml4.dll
Please advice.
Regards ibok

Hello.
There are some similarities with your issue, and what is already being "discussed" here :-
http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/662...
You may find some help in Maurice Joyce's post....in the lower/latter half of the thread.
In the future, could you please refrain from using this section (Vulnerabilities) of the forum, as it is reserved for specific debate etc., concerning Secunia advisories. Please use the other available sections....thankyou....regards,

@ibok,
I suspect PSI is looking for version 4.30.2107.0. Can U see that version here:

C:\Windows\sysWOW64\msxml4.dll version 4.30.2107.0 dated 20/7/2009?

I found C:\Windows\sysWOW64\msxml4.dll version 4.30.2107.0 21/7/2009
But there is also through the Secunia when I open the folder where there is in :
C:\ Program Files(x86)SONY\PMB\TapeImporter\msxml4.dll

Technical details about this installation of Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.x, you can use this information to determine why the Secunia PSI detected the program and the security state of it.

Version Detected:
4.20.9839.0

Installation Path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SONY\PMB\TapeImporter\msxml4.dll

Is there a way to fix it or put it to the ignore programs?????

That is OK - Navigate to here by using the OPEN FOLDER option in PSI or via Windows Explorer:

C:\ Program Files(x86)SONY\PMB\TapeImporter\msxml4.dll

Once found RIGHT click & rename that file to

C:\ Program Files(x86)SONY\PMB\TapeImporter\msxml4.dll_OLD

Complete a full PSI rescan - the vulnerability should be history.

The next bit involves Dragging & Dropping the updated file using Windows Explorer - let me know if U require detailed instructions.

The last question is :
C:\ Program Files(x86)SONY\PMB\TapeImporter\msxml4.dll[b]_OLD[ /b]

With the [b] or without because I did it without.
But without and just renaming to _old is OK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanking you in advance and very much obliged!!!!!!!
P.S.
I did it like this :

C:\ Program Files(x86)SONY\PMB\TapeImporter\msxml4.dll_OLD

Sorry - The [b] etc was suppose to highlight it but was not working.

Have U done a full rescan? Are U 100%?

Once that is OK we can update your programme - just confirm if U want detailed instructions on dragging & dropping.
