Hello,

I have a problem. The Secunia PSI (already latest version 1.0.0.1) still shows that for the MS Office Publisher 2003 software is an update available although the patch says that it has been already installed. The text says that the known version of the software is 11.0.8166.0 and also the Windows Update site shows no new updates.
Path of Publisher: C:\Programme\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\MSPUB.EXE
Does anyone know whats going on there?

Have you tried Office Update? Windows Update only covers the operating system and other standard stuff (not office).

Sorry I was not directly enough.
I'm using always the advanced feature Microsoft Update which is looking for Windows and also for Office Updates. But I have checked it also at the Office Update site and it shows no missing update.
I have also tried to use the "Download Solution" button within PSI, but then it says the update is already installed.

I had this same problem, so I decided to run Publisher to see if I could determine what was going on. When I attempted to start Publisher, it started an install program, so looks like Publisher was never installed. Perhaps yours isn't either? It appears that Microsoft just tells you it is currently up to date if you don't have it installed instead of being intelligent enough to let you know that you don't have it installed. PSI was looking at the MSPUB.EXE file which apparently is an old/original install version. I went ahead and did the install and update and it resolved the problem. PSI isn't smart enough to know that MSPUB.EXE is apparently the original install program for unpatched Office 2003. Apparently it converts from being the install program to being the executable after you do this install. If so, that's probably why PSI can't distinguish between the install and the final executable. If you aren't using Publisher, my guess is that it wouldn't be a risk...but what do I know?

It looks like that Secunia has changed/updated the search routine of the Office programs. The Publisher is shown as updated now.
