Hi
I clean reinstalled Vista Home Premium and installed all MS updates.
This is the result afterthe scan:
Insecure Programs [?] Version Detected [?] Threat Rating [?] Direct [?]

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.x 2.0.50727.4209

Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer 2007 12.0.6545.5004

Microsoft Office Publisher 2007 12.0.6546.5000

Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 12.0.6500.5000

Microsoft Visio 2007 Viewer 12.0.6513.5000

Microsoft Windows Vista

Trying to fix it brings me back to Windows update. But no updates are available
anymore.

Example: I have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, Windows Vista SP2, and Windows Server 2008 SP2 Security Update x86 (KB979910)

Installation date: ‎15/‎12/‎2010 00:13

Installation status: Successful

Update type: Important

A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to tamper with digitally signed content without being detected, when this content is being consumed by an application that makes use of the Microsoft .NET Framework on a Windows-based system. You can help protect your computer by installing this update from Microsoft. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

Vista needs an update?????

I am confused here. Before the clean install I ran Secunia also with the same updates and there were no threads. Secunia indicated 100% secure.

Hope anyone can enlighten me here
Thanks in advance

Pieter

Hi Pieter

I see no one's been able to offer assistance, yet. By me replying here will re-introduce your thread to near the top of the list, and hopefully attract attention.

Unfortunately I don't have Vista or M$ Office suite. The only one of your above listed version numbers I can concur with and verify is that for PPV 2007.
This is the same as I have listed (stand alone on XP), which shows as patched (current - not insecure).
The PSI reporting problems may have arisen from your Vista re-installation.

I would try the following:
1) If using PSI 1.5.0.2 (or earlier), then close PSI by right-clicking the tray icon (bottom right taskbar), and selecting Exit;
2) Manually check Microsoft Updates (not Windows Updates) - possibly even 2x;
3) Re-boot PC;
4) Re-launch PSI from Start>All Programs;
5) Re-scan PSI.

Has this changed anything?

Hi
Thanks for your attention and suggestion. I am sure it was a Secunia issue after all .All windows Vista updates have been installed properly.
The issue was resolved when I installed Secunia 2.0 Beta. It cleared all insecurities and now Secunia shows a system score of 100%
Thanks and have a beautiful Christmas.

Glad you've solved your problem. I also thought that it could have been a PSI problem. My point was, that by re-installing your Vista OS (plus subsequent updating), may have somehow "upset" PSI. By closing and re-launching can sometimes re-set any reporting inaccuracies/anomalies. Updating to 2.0 beta has probably had the same effect.

May all your Christmas's be white!
