When ever I try to download a new patch/update, I keep getting an error message:

"an error occured while attempting to open the specified URL"!

Neetless to say it is quite frustrating and I am unable to update! I have deleated the program and reinstalled it with no luck in clearing this problem... any suggestions out there?

Thank you for your assistance... However; I have having trouble understanding the solution...

It talks about opening the registry editor and making changes. I am not sure as to where to find the registry editor let alone making the changes it asks.

Would you please enlighten me. I am running Win XP. Thank you so much

Hi again.
It also provides the alternative .......further down the post: for users not 110% sure of entering the Registry :-

Otherwise you can try to open your preferred browser in admin mode by right-clicking the browser icon and pick "Run as administrator".
Go to the options section of your browser and make it your default browser.
Remember to completely close the browser once you have done this as you do NOT want to browse the Internet with a browser in admin mode.

This should hopefully help you to solve any URL problems in the PSI.

I've not had any occasion to do it myself, so I hope the foregoing is clear enough for you.....

Hi again...

No not really... I right clicked on my browser button in the start menu and I come up with "run as..." when I click on that it gives me 2 options #1 Current user which is myself or #2 The following user. Nothing else... no run as administrator. Any other suggestions.

Okay.
Lets try going back a few steps then.
What version of psi have you got installed ? What browser have you got set as your default browser, and are you running other(s) ?
Can you confirm that you have all the settings in IE8 (?) as per the FAQ's here....note 3.....:-
