New PSI 2.0 installed today & reported this missing update correctly. [XP Home Service Pack 3] However, MS Auto Update has already tried to load it 17 times since 15th Dec 2010 and it failed. My 'manual' download of this Security Update showed the Description of update did download but with a file value of 0kb. Internet search of KB2443105 indicate many other people have the same problem. Does the fault lie with MS or what? Anyone have an idea? Regards |

HI , The fault lies with M$ if it keeps (re)offering the patch at updates . The PSI only reports KB's loaded and locked as secure ; this normally requires a reboot and full system scan for the KB's to validate . Others will be reported as/under programme insecure , patch available . Belarc will give you a (free) crosscheck of whether all hotfixes are loaded and locked :- http://belarc.com/free_download.html Hope that is clearer . Anthony PS: the 0 kb's will show at the initial dld location , the full value displays after install ; another clue that the install has failed . -- It always seems impossible until its done. Hi Anthony Many thanks for the info - you confirmed what I thought - the ball is in the M$ court. I have Bellarc but had not run it so the result was again as you said as it confirmed this Security Update is missing. [Missing Microsoft Security Hotfixes These required security hotfixes (using the 12/14/2010 Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary) were not found installed. Note: CIS benchmarks require that Critical and Important severity security hotfixes must be installed. Q2443105 - Important] I will ask M$ for their input. Thanks again TK |

Hi TK , Whilst you wait , as you likely know , a temporary work around is to go to M$updates and using custom selection to check "hide the update" so the update is not reoffered ; this should have the knock on effect of stopping the PSI reporting it as well , if that is your wish . just don't forget about it , it is part of the library loading saga . Anthony -- It always seems impossible until its done. Nelson Mandela |

If contacting MS U may wish to run MBSA as a double check. It is dedicated to MS & the sort of issue U are having. If U wish to try it the link is here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx... Once there select the download link that matches your OS (64 or 32 Bit) If the problem install is stuck in the PC "pipeline" it tells U where to look & what to do. -- Maurice Windows 7 SP1 64 Bit OS HP Intel Pentium i7 IE 10 for Windows 7 16GB RAM |
