I tried to install Secunia PSI 2.0 but keep getting error "Installation Failed".
The error message shown while executing this Execute: C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupInfObjectInstallAction DefaultInstall 128 .\psi.inf

Output folder: C:\Program Files\Secunia\PSI
Extract: psi.exe... 100%
Extract: sua.exe... 100%
Extract: psi_tray.exe... 100%
Extract: psia.exe... 100%
Extract: psires.dll... 100%
Extract: psi.inf... 100%
Extract: psi_mf.sys... 100%
Extract: PSI_terms_and_conditions.rtf... 100%
Extract: Readme.rtf... 100%
Execute: C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupInfObjectInstallAction DefaultInstall 128 .\psi.inf

I have no idea what is the cause of this problem.
I'm running Win7 home 32bit.

Can anyone help?
Any help would be appreciated.

Happy Xmas!

Hello.
Have you checked all settings in IE8 are configured exactly as in Note 3 of the FAQ's here ? :-
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal... FAQ's
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...
HOW IT WORKS
Did you clear out temp. files/browser cache before install ?
I've found previously that it can help to set IE8 as default browser, and then revert to your preferred choice if achieving a successful install.
Please be aware that psi is not compatible with IE9....nor does it monitor Beta/Dev programs.
Hope this helps in some way.....regards,

Thanks for your reply, mogs.
I follow your suggestions, reset IE settings, clean temp & cache, set IE as default etc, still it does not work.

Did you notice the error occured every time the installation executing this line: C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe syssetup,SetupInfObjectInstallAction DefaultInstall 128 .\psi.inf
I think it's important.

Have you rebooted since having carried out those changes ? That would probably cause them to register.

That problem solved after reboot, thanks mogs again.
Now I got another problem :(

I'm one of voluntary translators of PSI 2.0. The translation is almost done and I would like to have it tested.
I tried to run PSI in test mode by following instructions, running: psi.exe --test-ui.
However, PSI always freeze at flash screen that displays Verifying Internet connection. Without --test-ui switch, it works fine though.

Any ideas?

I'm glad I was able to be of some help, but your present problem is not within my experience.....not sure if Secunia officials are in today....Maurice Joyce or Anthony Wells may pick up the thread later and be able to offer some advice.....regards,
