Today, for the first time ever, PSI 1.5.0.2 fails to finish its scans, both scheduled and manual. Everything works as expected until the scan reaches the Matching with Secunia File Signatures Engine stage. Then a window appears with the unhelpful message Scan aborted!

What can be wrong?

Hi MedDoc

I also use v.1.5.0.2 & when I booted-up a few
minutes ago I got a balloon message that my Profile
couldn't be matched with Secunias' servers & to
check my settings & other various tips.

Another balloon also said my initial scan had been started-when
I checked the Scan tab I was informed my last scan was on
31 Dec. 1969! I didn't even own a computer until 1999.
Checking Patched, End of life, Insecure, & Secure Browsing
showed 0 in all categories -imagine that-a computer with nothing on it.

I exited Secunia from systray & reopened from All Programs
& was able to join the Forum normally. However when I click
a topic to read the posts they open really slooow.

My take on the matter? Probably a wobbly thrown by Secunia servers or the laid back Danes 'after the Holidays' sense of humor. Personally I'm not gonna worry about it.

Here's hoping you the best in the new year.

Regards, wr

Thanks, wr. My PSI shows all the correct dates and otherwise appears to function normally, except for the aborted scans.

But strangely, although I am logged in normally, my initial post on this subject and your reply now both carry the notice This user no longer exists.

I too suspect that it is a server problem. Too much aquavit or Carlsberg over the past weekend?

Best wishes for the New year in return!

On second thought, the fact that PSI for some reason skips the file scan has something to do with it. Normally reaching the MS patch test takes about eight minutes, but today PSI reaches that stage in 35 seconds.

I'll reinstall and see what happens.

So do I, now. Strange. As my father used to say, there's more betwixt heaven and earth than the taxpayer can afford.

Hey MedDoc

All back to normal for me now: 03JAN2011 16:58 EST

Checked & shows correct info for last & next scan, # of programs, etc., etc.

Good luck.

I just happened to click on PSI & watched the screen 'flash'
after it opened.

Regards, wr

And, amazingly, all back to normal here too. PSI is happily doing its file search and taking its time over it. All as it should be. Problem - if it was a problem - solved.
