I have already run the update for this program MULTIPLE times. Secunia still finds it to be insecure. I Have had this exact same issue with Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and also Microsoft Snapshot viewer, all of which I have patched. Can someone please advise when these issues with MS products and Secunia's detection will be resolved? Creating ignore rules defeats the entire purpose of this software in the first place. |

I had the same issue but the compatibility pack and the individual applications finally disappeared from the "insecure" list after a reboot and a re-scan. |

Hi. I am getting this and Access 2003 and Excel 2003 and Word 2003 and I have also applied the patches multiple times and rebooted every day and rescanned and they are still there. I haven't got Snapshot viewer installed but think I will to see what happens.
I don't want to use the 'Ignore Program' option in case that prevents further real alerts from appearing.
Anyone from Secunia monitoring this and can help?
There is a series of these errors covering Word, Excel, Access, Office 07 Compatibility Pack, and Snapshot Viewer. Always the same issue across all the threads. I did a manual scan and that cleared all except Access. |

Hi,
I have the same problem with "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats".
MS programs are fully patched (MS Update); still Secunia PSI reports the program as Insecure. Furthermore, the patch offered clearly states "Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1; Windows Vista; Windows XP Service Pack 2". My PC is running Win XP Pro SP3. Will anyone from Secunia answer/correct this false positive?
Thanks. José. |

Try: Open Secunia PSI in Advanced Mode - Expand Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack (Click + Sign) - Click on Open Folder - Delete all Files inside Folder then also Delete Folder. Then Google and Download "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack 3.4", Save then Run or just Run File & then Rescan. This worked on my system (XP Home SP3) It appears Updates do not Update Compatibility Pack. I had also tried Compatibility Pack SP1 to no avail.MWKS99. |

As I had no answer to my post dated 18th Dec, 2008 19:47, and the problem is still unsolved for other users, here is the solution I found:
The "bad" file detected was (path may differ) "c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\excelcnv.exe". I just copied this file (version 12.0.6331.5000) from another PC that did not have this problem. Since then, no more insecure or unpatched programs !!!!
I hope this can help other users still with the same problem. |
