Hi,

I tried to add a missing program but I am having trouble. The name of the program is Audacity. When I brows to the file location and send the information I get this message.

No file version information was available for the specified file. Please locate the main .exe or .dll for the program and try again.

The .exe file I open is the main file.

Any help would be appreciated.

The url for Audacity is http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I found one more. The program name is Polipo.

The url for Polipo is http://www.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=77...

Thanks in advance.

Audacity is already contained in the Secunia Database http://secunia.com/advisories/product/12965/?task=...

Are you running a Beta version? It would not be monitored by PSI.

Using Explorer, navigate to the files you want to suggest to PSI. Right click on them. Click Properties and check that ther is enough information in the details tab to identify the program version.

Hello.
Found this copy of a recent official explanation regarding files for suggestion :-

To submit software suggestions, first verify that all settings corrospond to those described in this item of our FAQ: http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

Then, please keep in mind that not all files can be used to detect software, and some executables will therefore be rejected by the Software Suggestion feature. The file will need to have version information attacthed to it - to verify if this is the case, right-click the file you want to suggest, and select Properties > Version.

The file needs to have a version number appropriate to the actually installed version either in the "File Version", "Product Version", or "Version" field (The field shown as "File Version" at the top of this tab. The second "file version" is another field).

Hope it's useful....regards,

Hi,

Just to let you know I am not using a beta version. I looked at the properties and there is no version listed in there. PSI v1 would pick it up but PSI v2 doesn't seem to want to see it. Let me know if there is a work around.

Thanks again.

I think your problem is that the stable version 1.2.6 dated 18/5/2007 is not supported for Windows 7.

Details here:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows

Any version after 1.2.6 has been in BETA &,as explained by @ddmarshall, will not be available in PSI.

I agree there are no file details that can be submitted to Secunia to make the stable version appear in the PSI programme database.

Work around

Like numerous other programmes with the same file problem the only way to asset track vulnerabilities is via the Advisory.
