By voting on the relevancy of your response, I inadvertently locked the thread. I want to thank you for your response which was very helpful. It turned out that both of the required Services were disabled which prevented the scan. I wanted to make sure to thank you for your prompt and most helpful response which resolved the problem.

But this then raises the question--shouldn't the PSI Installation make sure that those Services are enabled? If that is not possible, at least we should be given a complete list of requirements that are listed during the installation. That would be much better than having to fix all the discrepancies afterwords. Some users may give up rather than going through all the hoops.

@scrutin
Thanks for the vote and your appreciative comment.....very glad that you were able to resolve matters.
Regarding the disablement/enablement of services/features....each to their own set-up I suppose. Having made the necessary changes way back when I began with Secunia; it seems I've been very lucky, and not had to do much since, thro' the changes in versions of psi. It seems to me that Secunia have been very attentive in trying to make the program as accessible to as many as possible.....the Beta phase of psi 2.0 and the resultant Stable release having managed to please the vast majority it seems....and now too, a newer set of FAQ's. All that and the fact that Secunia staff are so helpful and responsive....I'm quite sure that many other free program providors are much more remote from this level of overall backup. I'm quite sure also, that Secunia are always looking to make transitions as smooth as possible, and your comments will no doubt be noted..........regards,

What was the reply that allowed SCAN to run? Where do we find the previous thread that addressed the NO SCAN question?
