Hello,

I am trying to verify if Secunia PSI 2.0.0.1003 makes a Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit Startup Registry Entry named FSM?

It does not have anything listed in the properties for it and no files associated with it.

I made a post trying to figure out what FSM was at the Comodo Forums and someone there believes it is associated with Secunia PSI:

https://forums.comodo.com/av-false-positivenegativ...

You can download my HiJackFree log and KillSwitch log there if you want to know more about my system.

Here is a sample of my Autorun Entries From Registry as listed by HiJackFree:

Autorun entries from Registry:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

PeerBlock = C:\Program Files\PeerBlock\peerblock.exe

fsm =

FileHippo.com = "C:\Program Files\FileHippo.com\UpdateChecker.exe" /background

OpenDNS Updater = "C:\Program Files\OpenDNS Updater\OpenDNSUpdater.exe" /autostart

Thank you,
-John Jr :)

Hello.
Can't really help you....other than found this reference on Wikipedia :-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FSM-based_programming
Automata-based programming is a programming paradigm in which the program or its part is thought of as a model of a finite state machine (FSM) or any other (often more complicated) formal automata (see automata theory). Sometimes a potentially-infinite set of possible states is introduced, and such a set can have a complicated structure, not just an enumeration.
FSM-based programming is generally the same, but, formally speaking, doesn't cover all possible variants as FSM stands for finite state machine and automata-based programming doesn't necessarily employ FSMs in the strict sense.

BTW Did you know there's a newer version of psi available than that shown in your post ? You can download/update 2.0.0.3001 from here :-
ftp://ftp.secunia.com/PSISetup.exe psi 2.0 Full Version

Hope it helps......regards,

There's no such entry in the Registry on my systems running Secunia PSI.

Thank you for commenting as well, according to Secunia PSI and FileHippo Updater my Secunia version is up-to-date, but whatever you say Boss; I will try installing the file you linked but first I am going to uninstall Secunia PSI to see if the FSM entry disappears or not. ;)

I uninstalled Secunia PSI and the FSM entry was still in my startup, so I deleted the entry with HiJackFree, and then I installed the newest Secunia PSI again; and no FSM entry was created, so I still have no idea what that FSM entry was.

Well it is gone for now, still a mystery though, but we will see.

Thank you,
-John Jr :)
