Hi,

Didn't expect to be back here so soon, but I have another query.

PSI reports that my existing Adobe Shockwave Player is now out of date and that I should update.

I click on install update and all starts off fine.

However, when I try to download the updated version, the usual (for my security settings anyway) permission requesting strap appears and then when I give permission I get a message saying that Windows (XP Home, SP3) will not allow it as the publisher of the software cannot be identified.

Anyone else had this problem or now of a "work round" please?

Best regards - eljay.

Try downloading direct from Adobe http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/

Many thanks for your much appreciated interest both.

Can't explain it, but during my checking things out as you had suggested, there suddenly appeared (spooky, or what?) an icon in my taskbar that when I hovered the cursor over it, the magic words "Shockwave Updater" popped out at me!

At a guess - I may have opted not to have "Check automatically for Updates" activated and my visits to the Adobe Shockwave site had invoked an opportunity for a manual update?

I'm only guessing - so please put me right if you know otherwise.

It's good to know that you're out there guys - and willing to lend a hand.

Sincere thanks once again to you both.

Take care - eljay.

It would have been an update from Adobe rather than Secunia PSI. You're probably right that it was triggered by going to a page using Shockwave.
