Earlier this month PSI flagged Google Chrome 8 (GC) as 'insecure' so I followed the links and d/l and installed GC 9, only to find that GC 9 would not load web pages, but stayed in an unending search. So I had to 'system restore' to get back to GC 8. PSI icon is red, and my Secunia system score is 99. Am I the only one with this problem? My system is WinXP SP3.
Thank you,
Bob

Hello Bob.
In my experience you're better off updating Chrome by clicking on the Spanner/Wrench icon....top right corner of Chrome...and then About.
The latest Stable version is :-

Stable Channel Update

Labels: Stable updates
The stable channel has been updated to 9.0.597.98 for Windows. This release fixes a regression where IME clients could not attach to Flash (Issue 66605). Many thanks to everyone for the reports!

If the older/previous/insecure file/version is not removed, psi will continue to detect it.
Chrome does not automatically remove it at update.
Hope this helps.......regards,

Hi Mogs,
I was about to follow your directions to update GC when to my surprise 'about' says 9.0.597.98 is installed and up to date. My best efforts to keep this update from installing evidently did not work, because at some time, without my knowledge, it updated and is functioning fine, however, PSI icon is still red and indicating GC is 'insecure'. I use Revo Uninstaller for removing programs and it reflects only the updated version of GC.
I just did a PSI rescan of GC and now all is green.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Bob

I'm glad it's all worked out for you Bob. Neither of the versions of Chrome that I use, ( See signature below), are monitored by Secunia....so I have to remember to delete the previous versions....sometimes two or three a day !
There has been the odd occasion: if one is patient enough: that they will "mysteriously" disappear some time later; but ordinarily I follow "a well trodden path" and simply delete.
You can put your 100% score in your " My Profile" if you wish: ( See, in grey on left of page....below About in blue ).
You can also put repetitive details in your Signature box....as you see in mine below....a helper can sometimes find it useful.
If the problem is now resolved ; as you are the originator of the thread, you have the option to close it, by selecting ACCEPT. This will lock the thread : preventing tag-on posts and reminder e mails..........good luck.....regards,
