Hello Maurice, hello forum,

I still only receive erratic email advisories. Sometimes none per day, at most three or four. In the online database there are heaps of them -- why don't I get them mailed? I don't think it's an issue with my mail provider since I never ever missed a mail so far apart from those email advisories.

What do you think?

Regards,
Tom

Tom,
Secunia Support on not active on the Forum at the moment. I will keep a record of receipts by email over the next few days so U can compare.

We are missing emails too... NONE received since:

Subject: [SA43342] SRWare Iron Multiple Vulnerabilities
Date: Sun, 20 Feb 2011 01:32:28 +0100

This happened once before that I am aware of, see the thread:

Thanks.

I've likewise noticed no emailed advisories for a couple of weeks. I even tried changing addresses, in case our server was blocking them. Any resolution on the horizon?

Tom,
Like others have commended I have received no mail.

I have requested Secunia Support to comment on this thread at some stage.

Hello Maurice ,

I would point out that I was/am active on one other thread and since the server slow down and assorted forum display events of yesterday (the weekend) , today I was no longer shown as subscribing to said thread and did not receive email updates overnight .

This is separate to the theme of this thread , but may add some confusion if my experience is a widespread occurrence .

As you have advised that support is not active atm , perhaps you would bear it in mind as I am busy elsewhere this week .

Take care

Anthony

PS: You might want to take a look here , where "auto-updates" of the PSI 2.0 seem to be implicated in the PSI starting an installation reboot without warning ; nothing I've ever come across before and something else for support perhaps :-

Anthony,
The server was a little wobbly at times. I got a few email updates from threads this morning but thank U for the "heads up" that there may be other issues.

Auto rebooting is not one of them. Steering well clear of that thread - looks like it is heading down "fantasy way" with assumptions being made with so little background information given by the originator.

Same problem here - no updates since "[SA43342] SRWare Iron Multiple Vulnerabilities"

This is during our businesses trial of secunia as our new security advisor. I like the clear way advisories are done here but not getting the emails is clearly not good!

And come to think of it before this we had days with zero advisories but then some would come through. This really isn't reassuring.

Hello @aidan188 ,

If you are using Secunia in a business situation you are maybe using CSI and/or VIM , in which case , a lack of emails for Secina Advisories may well be handled differently to logged-in request for them available to the personal use(rs) of the PSI .

In the event you use one or the other , you could start a thread in the CSI sub-forum (see the column on the lhs of this page) or take note of the following for CSI users ; the same also reads for VIM users :-

Customer Support Levels
All Secunia CSI customers receive free email support. Additionally we offer phone support and webconferencing, where you can talk to a dedicated Secunia CSI technical expert on a variety of topics. For more information about these support options including extended SLAs, please contact your personal Secunia account manager or contact our Customer Support Center at: csc@secunia.com.

Hope that this is helpful .

Take care

Anthony

Hi,

I don't have any contracts with Secunia. Was just trialing the free advisories to see how they would compare to our current provider. I like the clarity of reports, but again not getting the emails is not OK.

Won't be signing up to pay for any kind of support if a free mailing doesn't work as advertised.

Right now if someone relied on the secunia mailing list and a zero day came out that affects them they would be completely unaware.

Since the mailing list went silent I have signed up with a new gmail account and it has received zero advisories. And yes I've checked spam folders etc.

Hi ,

Secunia support are busy elsewhere than the PSI as I understand and there is a problem atm concerning the email system for the SA's ; when it will be fixed is unknown but Maurice Joyce (as he posted above) has made sure they are aware of the problem .

PSI is for personal use and is free as are the emailed alerts for the SA's ; the latter are "restricted" in depth of info in the "free" version .

The PSI is a limited version of the CSI/VIM which is designed for business use and is handled differently and prioritised by Secunia , as one has to pay for it .

Anything free vs paid for in a business situation will likely be less well supported and without warranty or guarantee .

Caveat emptor .

Anthony

Any official word on if this is fixed for good now? Or do we need to pay for that :)

@Maurice Joyce

In support of Anthony Wells, I respectfully request that you do not stay away from the thread. http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/770...
It requires some follow-up and you appear to have insight with Secunia support. If what the originator states is true, it could result in some vary serious implications. Respectfully, puget 1

Hi puget1 ,

I think you have posted the wrong thread link ; the one you give does not make sense (to me) in the context .

Anthony,
I think he means this thread:
http://secunia.com/community/forum/thread/show/770...

If so,it is completely "dead in the water". The originator has reverted to version 1.5 for some odd reason. No idea what OS he is using but what is described cannot happen with Windows 7,for example, unless the user evokes the Force Shutdown options.

Looks like he is the only one to find this alleged bug. If he remains adamant that it exists he should report it as outlined here with all the documentary evidence:

http://secunia.com/products/consumer/PSI/faq/#q15

Requires no intervention by me & I am steering well clear.

Sorry for the edit.

@ Anthony Wells & Maurice Joyce

Well, we tried ,but Maurice's reply makes absolute sense . I was going to ask them to go through their event log and submit it,but they must have hit the wrong key while working. As for my error with the thread I have been having problems with thread hyperlinks not corresponding to where I got them from e.g. I actually got it from Anthony's request:" copy "of his thread link but it some how jumped to wrong??? Oh well

Hi puget1 ,

Bit off topic , as such , but if you copy a posted link or the the post itself , then the link is frequently truncated and usually gives a "not found" message ; in this case , thanks to some trick of the light , we went back to the (nearly) dark ages . You need to (re)copy and (re)post the actual url from your browser ; plus I have got into the the habit of (re)checking the link after I've posted to the forum ..

As for the other thread , again off topic , I can provoke a blue screen (driver) crash and seen malware try to roll back programmes , but an "un-prompted" controlled shutdown is completely new to me , whether it is from a programme , it's installer or an(y) "auto/silent -update(r)" .

Sounds more like a "the dog (aka the Secunia PSI) ate my homework " sort of situation ; copy the report to support to the HM :))) Nice try , but no medals .

Take care

Anthony

Secunia Support have now confirmed that as far as they are concerned the problem is now resolved.

Could anyone still having a problem please raise a new thread
