PSI indicated that the Adobe Reader version was 8.1.2 and that 8.1.3 should be installed. However, Adobe Reader/Help/Check-for-Updates indicated there were no outstanding updates. Uninstalled Reader anyway and installed Reader 8.1.3 using link provided by <Download Solution>. Now PSI indicates that the Reader version is 8.1.0.137 which it is. Several dlls and plugins have versions of 8.1.3 but not AcroRd32.exe itself.

Well, the problem has grown. I updated my machine today with patches from Microsoft. Also updated a couple of other programs, vmware and vlc. Ran a complete scan. PSI indicated that I had two insecure programs, Adobe Reader and Excel 2003. Using the Technical Solutions url, downloaded the update for Excel and ran it. It indicated the patch had already been applied. Ran a scan on the program. Excel 2003 went away and Word, Access, and Infopath 2003 were added. Again, using Technical Solutions urls, downloaded and ran updates for Word (KB956357) and Access/Infopath (KB953404). Both indicated that the patch had already been applied. Ran scans on the programs which indicated no changes. BTW, Microsoft update shows no updates are needed.

Try updating your flash player to Adobe 10

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

my anti virus continued to show a vulnerability until it was updated, even though the Adobe reader was up to date
