I have not had any luck getting the interface to load since upgrading to any versuion on 2.x. Now I'm using the most current version 2.0.0.3001.

After installing it and letting it run overnight, I have a 97% score. When I hit open I get the splash screen for a second before it disappears on me.

The last few lines of psialog.txt read:

[04/01 09:24:16.656] Pipe Server got incoming connection, feeding handle to child.
[04/01 09:24:16.656] Pipe Server accepting incoming connections
[04/01 09:24:17.031] Waiting for pipe to be done
[04/01 09:24:17.031] Closing pipe

Any idea why I can't get the interface to load?

Hello.
Is your OS by any chance XP ? Have you checked thro' the newer FAQ's recently :-
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...
Particularly the settings configurement here :-
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...
If you are an XP user....please be sure to read thro' further.

It might also be worth noting that psi 2.0 is not compatible with IE9 Beta.

Hope the foregoing helps.....regards,

Hi ,

If , as your problem "sounds" like , you are using XP , then scroll down this FAQ to see two workarounds for XP for this type of problem :-

http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

You should check all the IE settings anyway as they are essential to enable your system to contact the Secunia servers .

Let us know how you get on .

Anthony

EDIT : Touchée , Mogs !!

Thanks Mogs,
I had looked through the FAQ before but didn't see anything.

Re-read it and found this:

Go to where you installed the PSI (Probably C:\Program Files\Secunia\PSI, or C:\Program Files (x86) for 64-bit systems), right-click PSI.exe, click Properties, go to the Compatibility tab, and set a check at 'Turn off advanced text services for this program'

Turning off advanced text seems to make it work.

@Anthony..........What epee ?!

@rossanderson

Glad that you managed to get up and running. You can keep an eye out for any new releases here :-
http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal... as there is not always a formal announcement of minor releases.

If the issue is now resolved ; as you are the originator of the thread, you have the option to close it, by selecting ACCEPT. This will lock the thread : preventing tag-on posts and reminder e mails.

Hi Mogs and all

Re this, IE9 is now in Release Candidacy, if not actually in Production, and the RC does seem to be compatible with PSI 2.0.0.3001, in that the graphs on the Dashboard do now show up when your IE9 is IE9RC or better.

Or is there some other incompatibility I don't know about?

If you read it again you'll see I have stipulated IE9Beta as not being compatible. It is known that the IE9 RTW is okay......regards,

To set the record straight.

1. IE9 has been declared RTM & is now available to most via Windows Update.

2. IE9 Beta is compatible with PSI & functionally works - there is/was a minor glitch with showing the graphics.

3. IE9 RC is similar to Beta except the graphics show correctly.

4. IE9 RTM is not fully compatible for advanced users. Functionally it works like all other versions have but the Secure Browsing Section does not populate.

Microsoft no-longer support the BETA or RC version which should be updated via Windows Update.

In line with their general policy Secunia does not support IE9 BETA or RC releases but does support IE9 RTM.

Hi Mogs

Yes, I knew that. I was just worried - perhaps unnecessarily - that it might confuse the OP. (Unless you specifically knew he was running IE9 Beta, of course, via a PM, or some such).

Anyway, Maurice has clarified the situation fully and excellently, so no-one should be at all confused about PSI and IE9 at all, now.

All the best

M_V

NB: RTW got me, but GIMF, and I now know it's 'Release to Web'

@ Midnight Voice.

Hear,hear......but what's GIMF ?!!!!

I was really impressed with the Release Candidate....even started to think of changing my default....but Chrome dev still moves faster than IE RTM and I don't have to bother with Adobe. Each to their own...I don't think the Browserwars are good for anyone.....but too many spelling errors and stuttering havn't got to me yet ?!
