Hi,
I have uninstalled Winzip 8.x via the remove software function but there is still a driver named "WZSHLSTB.DLL" that cannot be deleted. (uh, I assume that that´s a driver ;-)).

(1) Why so and how could I delete it - despite the unistalling Secunia still shows the security threat!!

THXX!
sureshot

PS: we had a Trojan Agent Dropper of which the main part is in quarantine, but could it be that some other part that it dropped is still holding on to that winzip driver? Performance level is rather poor and slow... YIKES!

Hey sureshot,

Did you ever solve your problem, I'm thinking of uninstalling winzip 8.x because of the PSI worning, and assume I will have the same situation.

Thanks,
toyvan

Try this programme
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

Once U install it scroll down until U find Winzip - highlight it & click remove.
Reboot & it should be OK

Sometimes using Windoze add/remove doesn't always remove all the program, therefore PSI will dectect & report the remnants. This will be a long post but here's my method of removing programs using a free 3rd party utility-Revouninstaller. If I'm going to update a program I i.download the update directly from the vendors website if possible ii.save it to the desktop iii. using Revo I uninstall the program iv. to be sure, I reboot & run Revo junk file remover v. install the update vi. delete the installer file vii. reboot-run the PSI in Advance mode-all should be well. Not saying this will work for everyone but it does for a newbie like me. Revo available here http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_fr... Another method to find & delete remnants- To locate the exact file that the Secunia PSI has detected, please follow these guidelines using the
advanced interface:
ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ
* Click on the entry of the program to expand it.
* Click on Technical details to see the installation path of the detected file.
* Remember the installation path and close down the menu.
* Click Open Folder and locate the detected file.
You can then manually delete these remnants-reboot-rescan & hopefully all is well. Good luck & regards. wr
