According to the change log, there is a new PSI version available for download. The download link still downloads the old 2.0.0.3001 instead of 2.0.0.3002

@Adric

Yes....I just tried the supposed new version download......the early balloon error has disappeared....but you're right....clicking on About; it's still showing version 2.0.0.3001

Correct - the version number in "About" is still showing as 3001.

As far as I can see from tests carried out it has not fixed the stop/start bug either.

To date I have tested Windows 7 & XP SP3.

If anyone wants to test it U need to:

1. Start a manual scan - after a few seconds click the stop scan button.

2. Now try to restart a scan. My latest tests show nothing happens which was the original bug.

3. The only way to get PSI to manually scan again is to reboot.

Tried the test Maurice.....as per your findings....couldn't restart scan tho' the "Determining Microsoft" wheel continued to spin. It took two reboots before it reset and scanned again.

@mogs
Thank U. Handed back the Vista I was repairing so could not test one.

Looks like my findings are correct but will wait to see if anyone else, including the originator, respond.

Both ftp and http links have the old version. The hashes are the same for
both. No need to do any testing. Someone updated the website, but simply forgot to add the new version.

Sorry - we have hi-jacked your thread slightly. We are not testing whether the numbering is correct - it is wrong & your observation is correct.

We are testing the bug fixes the update represents - only one of the two bugs has been fixed (subject to confirmation).

If the hashes are the same for 3002 and 3001 , then none of the fixes listed in the change log for 3002 should be in the "new" PSI. Even though someone may have confirmed a fix, I would be interested to know how this is possible using identical files.

They have updated the psires.dll but it does not have a version number & the other important file numbers have remained unchanged.

It is clearly a fix in parts - the bubble bug has been fixed, the stop/start scan issue has not as far as I can see which proves there has been an update but the version number(s) is/are not correctly represented.

Please explain how there can be an update in one file and not in the other when the install files are identical.

If someone from support could step in and clear this up it would be appreciated.

I think they will. I have just sent an email dealing with another issue & added this little problem to the list.

Hello All ,

i have not updated my version of the PSI , but can advise you that the early scan pop-up bug is fixed in my 2.0.0.3001 since yesterday (13th) ; when I ran a few scans checking M$ and VlC updates .

I have just reconfirmed it this very instant ; have not tried a stop/start for obvious reasons .

The post scan pop-up appears as normal .

EDIT : The tray icon is now showing red while the scan and dashboard are 100% green - will check again later .
OK : Corrected itself as soon as I stopped typing !!

Anthony

Hi,

This is caused by a minor oversight on our part, but the version you have downloaded is indeed 3002. There is no cause for alarm (Though if you notice a bug still present please let us know).

No, the explanation is avoiding my question about two identical installation files. If this is just a stub install file which downloads the updated files during the install, then please say so. That does not mean "We're just that good". LOL

Just re-downloaded and reinstalled, About says 2.0.0.3001

I tried both download links, and the hashes are the same as 2.0.0.3001, as well as the server's file date...

New one out today ( April 19) 2.0.0.3003 and I can now stop and restart the scan without any problems.

Hi,

Looks like I went and forgot about this thread when announcing the new version. Sorry about that.

Anyway, this issue will has been fixed in 3003, which was released yesterday. Reinstall and the issue should be solved.

I have sent numerous bug reports to Secunia particularly on these issues.

1. The manual scan Stop/Start buttons were not working correctly.

2. Version 2.0.0.3002 - this update did not show the correct version number when users checked the Tasktray icon "about" feature.

3. An information "balloon" appeared above the Tasktray icon at the start of any type of scan.

All these bugs have been fixed. To take advantage of these fixes U should update to version 2.0.0.3003 from here:

http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal...

There is another bug that I think only affects Windows 7,Windows 7 SP1 (possible that IE9 is involved). The bug prevents PSI from auto uninstalling an older version before reinstalling the new.

This should have been fixed by version 2.0.0.3003 but is under reinvestigation by Secunia after numerous users have reported it as an ongoing problem.

On that basis,if Windows 7 users want to update to the latest version I recommend this method:

1. Right click Start>Open Windows Explorer>C>Program Files>(Program Files (x86) if using a 64 Bit System))>Secunia>PSI - now activate the uninstaller from the icon U can see.

2. Install the new version from the link above.

I hope this helps. Tag On posts have started/could confuse the issues therefore I have locked this thread. If a new bug appears could U please create a new one.
