Secunia reports that it is "end-of-life". I do not show it a a pgm that I can uninstall. I ran the flash uninstaller, it uninstalled my Flash10.x but left this one. Using Vista and when I search for the file shown as the instillation path. I can not find it. It is reported as
C:\$RECYCLE.BIN ............FLASHPLAYER.r10d.ocx
How can I get rid of it?

First you could try to empty the windows Recycle Bin,
because the directory you told us about seems to be some kind of system recycle bin.
Have you had Windows 9x on this machine, or perhaps Diskeeper Undelete ?

the directory C:\$RECYCLE.BIN is really the location of the recycle bin of Windows Vista (I just checked on my Vista PC)
if you empty the Windows Vista Recycle Bin, your alert should go away in Secunia PSI.
if the alert is still ther, you should press the green Re-Scan button.
if this does not help, you can launch a full scan |

Have dumped the contents of the recycle bin,
did a full scan, still show it as end of life. |

If you cannot delete it (in the recycle bin),
perhaps you could put the directory c:\$Recycle.Bin on the PSI ignore list...

I have done that however it is not a solution to the problem of identifying a file as a threat when the file can not be found and deleted. Hope it is a problem that will be picked up and fixed in future releases.. |

I have the same problem. There are a number of files in the c:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-21-2551128522-1213427742-814 002457-1005\ folder. However, all folders inside c:\$Recycle.Bin are not accessible and their content does not go away for me. I used admin access, changed permissions, tried deleting files one by one via admin command prompt... No luck. Of course, with files still being there, Secunia keeps finding them :( |

I do not use Vista but can you not restore the programme from the recycle bin to its original location & then run the Flash uninastaller again?

Wmclane,
Because I do not know the names you are using: Did you try to click on Start - Configurationscreen - Programs - Delete programs? I think you did. Provided that you are very carefully: Go to Command prompt (C:)
typ Dir (or Dir/p) and look for the file you want to delete.
When you type Del and after that exactly what you want to delete, you might succeed. Do not try this when you are not sure!

click on Start -> Run... and give this nice command:
cmd /k del c:\$RECYCLE.BIN /s
You will then be asked if you really want to erase the files in this directory.
