I have Adobe Acrobat 7.0. I have updated to 7.09. That used to be secure. After scanning, Secunia tells me it is not. I can't afford to buy 8 or 9. So, what do I do? I need the PDF creator part of the program.

I had the same problem as you with Acrobat 5.0.
To fix the problem, I was able to install any current Acrobat Reader Version (6-9) after Installing my Acrobat 5.0
The Acrobat Reader then was called when opening PDF files.
This takes care of the vulnerability problem.
And all the functionality of Acrobat 5.0 stayed there to create PDFs.
I hope this combination still works between Acrobat 7.x and Acrobat Reader 9.x
