Exact text of the messages is as follows (in two separate windows):
Unable to locate an appropriate web browser for the requested URL
An error occured while attempting to opne the specified URL
My Direct Download Link Patches used to work just fine but I had a problem with unused but still installed copy AOL 9.0VR getting launched by Norton when it wanted to access web pages rather than Explorer so I removed AOL 9.0VR from my system and now Sucunia fixes won't work even though Explorer and AOL 9.1 and Firefox work just fine and I have Explorer set as my default browser. I have even tried to make sure one or both of AOL and/or Explorer are open when I try the fixes and it still gives me the error messages above. I cannot find anywhere in Secunia where I tell it what browser to use yet it seems to be looking for a browser that just does not exist and the ones that are set as defaults, that it should find, are not being found. I've even tried changing my default browser and that did not help and I have all the latest Microsoft Vista and Explorer and AOL updates downloaded and installed. |

Only if only. Explorer is 100% all set as my defualt browser and it works otherwise. Somewhere in some *.ini file or something I am sure that Secunia is still being directed to try to launch AOL 9.0VR when it tries to launch a browser. One oddity I know of is that Norton always launches Firefox as the default browser even though I abolutely have Firefox set as NOT my default browser. ASnd if Secuina is try for Firefox then it will not work as Secunia requires Exporer to proiperpy run its scripts. As always, Vista is a piece of CRAP and my system is riddled with endless bugs and even Sucinia (or any other scanner) will never fix such a failed operating system. |

Finally fixed it. Found another way to set default programs.
Under Default Programs instead of using the Set Your Default Programs wizard I used Set Program Access and Computer Defaults one instead and that finally worked and fixed my Norton launching Firefox Problem too. So you can't just make Explorer your default program for all internet file types, you also have to go out of your way to custom set access to it for the entire computer and it alone so that Secunia won't look for any other browser first and not find it. Maybe this will also fix some of my many other odd problems with my browser, Vista, AOL and so much else. One can only hope, but I doubt it. |
