Today the free Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) 2.0 with the 'Auto Update' functionality has been released in a public beta. This is a dedicated product development initiative to make security easier for the private users, enabling a proactive response towards the threat from insecure programs.
Secunia introduced the plans for the 'Auto Update' functionality to the public earlier this year at the RSA Conference. This was followed by a Technology Preview, launched in June 2010, and since then, the Secunia Development Team has worked dedicated on preparing the PSI 2.0 for the Public Beta.
The Technology Preview generated a lot of valuable input from the Secunia Community users, and it is the hope that the Public Beta phase will provide for further development input that will enable Secunia to take the final PSI 2.0 to new heights.
To do so Secunia would like to extend an invitation to the Community, users, journalists, and others interested in making a difference for the security of private users, to join the Public Beta.
Further information on the PSI 2.0 can be found in the Secunia blog: http://secunia.com/blog/123/
