4) Description of Vulnerability

Secunia Research has discovered multiple vulnerabilities in BrightStor
ARCserve Backup, which can be exploited by malicious people to
compromise a vulnerable system.

1) Boundary errors in the "cadbd" RPC service when handling string
arguments to a number of RPC procedures can be exploited to cause
stack-based buffer overflows via overly long string arguments.

2) The "cadbd" RPC service incorrectly uses "handle" RPC arguments in
a number of RPC procedures as pointers, which can be exploited to
corrupt memory.

Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
