4) Description of Vulnerability

Secunia Research has discovered two vulnerabilities in the Provideo
PAxPlayer ActiveX Control, which can be exploited by malicious people
to compromise a user's system.

1) A boundary error in PAxPlayer.ocx when processing the
"GetString()" method can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer
overflow via an overly long string passed in the "Id" parameter.

2) A boundary error in PAxPlayer.ocx when processing the
"ConnectIPCam()" method can be exploited to cause a stack-based
buffer overflow via an overly long string passed in the "strAdr"
parameter.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerabilities allows execution of
arbitrary code.

5) Solution

Set the kill-bit for the affected ActiveX control.
