4) Description of Vulnerability

Secunia Research has discovered a vulnerability in Open Web Analytics,
which can be exploited by malicious people to bypass certain security
restrictions or compromise a vulnerable system.

Input passed via the "owa_event" POST parameter to queue.php is not
properly sanitised before being used in a call to the "unserialize()"
function. This can be exploited to e.g. manipulate certain, otherwise
restricted configuration options or create or overwrite arbitrary
files via specially crafted serialized objects.

NOTE: This can further be exploited to execute arbitrary PHP code.

5) Solution

Update to version 1.5.7.
