A vulnerability has been discovered in Gromada Multimedia Conversion Library, which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to libmcl-5.4.0.dll loading libraries (e.g. libgif-1.1.0.dll and libhav-1.0.1.dll) in an insecure manner. This can be exploited to load arbitrary libraries when an application using this library e.g. opens a file located on a remote WebDAV or SMB share.
Successful exploitation allows execution of arbitrary code.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 5.4.0. Other versions may also be affected.
Solution: Do not open untrusted files with an application using this library.
